Our Ethos
We provide young entrepreneurs (aged 18-30) with heavily subsidised office space for a two year period in order to make those first few years as comfortable as possible. Doing so should help our clients businesses grow and develop in the future. This together with dedicated one-to-one business advice and personal support will give every young person the fundamental skills to succeed in business.
HYST will look to work with young people who have previously been; unemployed, under-employed, disadvantaged in some way or totally new to the world of business. We enable every young person to take responsibility of their own future and are willing to consider anyone with the drive and determination to run their own business.
We are committed to working with young entrepreneurs in the local area, making their businesses more competitive and sustainable to weather these early, daunting times. With our support, we foresee a whole generation of young start-up businesses going on to further develop their ventures, creating more jobs and contributing to the local community.
We are here to support young entrepreneurs from the humble beginnings of business generation through to looking into the space available at HYST business incubation centre (OneSixOne). Once our young business owners secure office space at OneSixOne the support and guidance continues throughout their tenure. This then gives them every opportunity to become commercially viable and allows the next generation of budding young entrepreneurs to start their journey with HYST.
Our Story, Partners & Supporters
One of London Youth Support Trust's (LYST) funders The Rank Foundation has developed and is now implementing a community development programme in Hull. One of their programme themes is “Encouraging Enterprise” and they encouraged LYST to explore whether there was a need for what they do in Hull.
As part of this process LYST’s executive had positive discussions with Charles Cracknell and the Hull City Council. We learnt that there is an appetite to replicate the LYST model as the City’s youth enterprise strategy had identified a need for a discreet young person’s incubator service in the City. Hull City Council had suggested 161 High Street within the museum quarter as a suitable potential building and we worked closely with Charles to secure the building going forward.
We have attracted funding from some respectable organisations and trusts that can see the success of our London Charity and the vision of Hull. They include:
· The Rank Foundation
· Esmee Fairburn Foundation
· Garfield Weston Foundation
· Sir James Reckitt Charity
In July 2020 HYST joined the HEY Smile Foundation family of charities.
